LIGHTHOUSES, HIKING, FOODIE FAVES

 PLANNING YOUR SUMMER VACATION

We recommend an escape of your daily pressures to quiet spaces, a refuge if you will, permitting rejuvenation in times of difficulty.  Paradise is a community of  tourist support businesses conveniently situated between Pictured Rocks National Lakeshore near Munising and the U. S. Army Corps of Engineers engineering marvel of 1934, the Soo Locks in Sault Ste Marie.

These locations and those recommended below are a brief drive from Paradise and less frequented by major groups of people. Yet the region offers spectacular landscape views and a chance to reflect on important values and find purpose in life again.

Use Paradise as your base camp and find Summer Refuge in the Paradise area!  As you make plans for a vacation this summer, we encourage you to reserve a room or cabin as soon as possible.  Our members are listed below. Check cancellations policies and enjoy your stay!

THREE LIGHTHOUSES
Lighthouses stand as sentinels warning sailors through storms and strife.  There are three in close proximity to Paradise: Whitefish Point Light Station, Crisp Point Lighthouse, and Point Iroquois Lighthouse.  Each offers an incredible story of times gone by and the volunteers that support them.

HIKING
Remarkably, the North Country Scenic Trail meanders the Paradise region.  It follows the Tahquamenon River at the river mouth and winds its way through the Tahquamenon Falls State Park as it works it way to the shores of Lake Superior.  Whether it is a day trip or several, this trail offers incredible vistas and solace.

Backpacking not your thing?  Consider short hikes or walks in the Tahquamenon Falls State Park or Paradise Pathways, just south and west of the blinking light in Paradise.  Maintained by a local troop of volunteers

FOODIE FAVES
Foodies can enjoy a wide range of delights in the Paradise area.  Specializing in smoked delights is The INN, Gastropub & Smokehouse.  Located on M-123 in front of the Magnuson Grand Lakefront hotel, they invite you to Get Some!!!

Be sure to stop in at Brown's Fish House for the best Whitefish, east of the Mississippi,  caught fresh daily in Lake Superior's Whitefish Bay!

The Lumberjack Breakfast at the Berry Patch!  Breakfast is served throughout the day, but you'll want to try their Pastie with gravy after a hike!
