Compliments Terry Humphrey, 2018 PATC PHOTO CONTEST FINALIST

At their November, 2018 board meeting, the Paradise Area Tourism Council voted to grant the Paradise Area Night Riders $10,000, matching funds that the Paradise Area Chamber of Commerce contributed to complete the groomer barn in time for the 2018 – 2019 season.  Tourism Council President, Jim Stabile stated that the support of the Night Riders and their work is critical to the success of the tourism business during the winter months in the Paradise community. Joanne Cook, Chamber President praised the work of the Night Rider volunteers throughout the year as they volunteer in many community programs including the Wild Blueberry Festival, Paradise Tahquamenon Wilderness Canoe Race, and the Haunted Trail.

The Paradise Area Night Riders is a group of snowmobile riders that maintain and groom 120+ miles of trails in northwest Chippewa County, a popular complex of trails skirting the Tahquamenon Falls State Park, the Hiawatha National Forest, and Lake Superior.   Mike Cook, Paradise Area Night Riders President stated that through this long process, many, many hours of volunteer time have been used in the groomer barn’s construction and the building is nearing its conclusion. A heated, well-lit structure where trail grooming equipment can be stored and a mechanic can readily maintain and manage the equipment needs will enhance snowmobile grooming efforts.  The new facility is closer to the Paradise community, decreasing commute time for volunteers.  Managing the snowmobile trails and equipment required will be much easier for the many volunteers. The Paradise community recognizes and supports the Paradise Area Night Riders effort throughout the year.
