Are quiet sports more your style? Members of the Tahquamenon Country Pathways Association (TCPA) grooms Paradise Pathways for cross-country skiing and snowshoes. Paradise Pathways is located just west of Paradise on M-123. There is an exceptional trail head there with two trails, one south of M-123 near the trail head and one north of M-123. Trail condition reports are posted on their Facebook page and information about quiet trails in the region listed on their website.
Meandering through the region is the North Country National Scenic Trail (NCT). Groomed and maintained by area volunteers organized as the Hiawatha Shore-to-Shore (HSS) NCT Chapter, this group sponsors a number of events through the year! But have no fears the NCT Trail is well marked with their nationally known as blue blazes. As in "Where in the blue blazes are you." Unsure? Encompassing 50,000 acres, the Tahquamenon Falls State Park is host to some 40 miles of hiking trails including a portion of the NCT Trail. Build your own snowshoes in one of their popular snowshoe building workshops or enjoy a lantern lit trail Saturday evening in January or February. Stay in the know with their schedule on their Facebook page. Most importantly warm up after your winter fun at Camp 33, a micro brewery located conveniently at the Upper Falls accessible by snow shoe or snowmobile. The Upper Falls are a must see in the winter months, be sure to include a stop there and capture a photo to your Instagram account. Winter camping is also available at the park.
